This Billing Specialist Supervisor position is located in our Homer Medical Center Department.

Hours:

This position is a Full-Time position with 80 hours a pay period (1.0 FTE) 

What you'll do:

- The Billing Specialist Supervisor will oversee the medical billing team for all SPH clinics and outpatient services.

- They will ensure the team verifies all the information necessary to properly submit clean claims to Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans Administration, and Commercial Insurance. 

- Reviews all insurance accounts on a consistent basis and will telephone customer support to expedite processing for promptness of payment. 

- Responsible for maintaining up-to-date Medicare, Medicaid, VA, and Commercial Insurance policies and billing procedures.

- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally both over the phone and in person.

What you'll need:

  • The Billing Specialist Supervisor position requires the minimum of a high school diploma.
  • Higher education such as an associated or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare Part B/Primary Care billing,
  • Minimum 3 years of healthcare experience and a minimum of 3 years of leading a medical billing team. 
  • A certification in billing from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or the Practice Management Institute (PMI) is required.

This position must present a professional appearance, deal courteously and respectfully with patients, be able to learn and follow established departmental policies, be able to perform work with attention to detail, be able to maintain accurate records and be able to contribute to a professional, positive working environment.

About Us:

Homer Medical Center/South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22 bed critical access hospital and 28 bed Long Term Care facility, orthopedic, and family practice clinics located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. The environment is generally pleasant, clean and well maintained. The position requires a moderate amount of mobility. The ability to reason, speak and have basic manual dexterity is essential. Physical demands may include sitting for prolonged periods, walking, stooping and occasional lifting. Psychological demands can be very strenuous.  Most work is performed inside.
