LEAD STERILE PROCESSING TECHNICIAN (PCN 798)

Under the direction of the Surgical Services Manager, this position is responsible for the operational functions of SPH Sterile Processing Department. Responsibilities to include compliance with regulatory agencies including CMS standards, daily activities of SPD including: biological, inventory sheets, monthly reports, needs of daily surgical schedule, instrument repairs and call schedule.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
The Lead SPD Technician must have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Two years of clinical/hospital sterile processing is required. A minimum of one year of supervisory experience preferred. Incumbent is required to have Certified Registered Central Service Technician Certification through International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management. BLS certification required. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation. He/she must be able to multitask while also maintaining close attention to detail. They must fulfill annual requirements, including: Employee Health, Healthstream, and MARS requirements. They must be able to work well independently, as well as a part of a team.
South Peninsula Hospital’s Surgery Department is located on the second floor of the facility. The working environment is often complicated by patient problems, family members’ concerns, physician needs and critical emergency situations.
