Pharmacy Technicians I, under the direction and supervision of a pharmacist, provides assistance in filling and computer entry of orders, billing and posting of pharmacy charges, perform clerical duties, maintaining inventory, and processing out-patient prescriptions. They have the primary responsibility for billing/posting charges and maintaining inventory systems.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
The Pharmacy Technician I is not certified by The Pharmacy Technicians Certification Board, but is licensed by the State of Alaska. Pharmacy Technicians should have completed a Pharmacy Technician Course or have 2 years experience as a pharmacy technician. They should have experience with wholesale ordering and inventory control. This individual should be able to operate such general office machines as a typewriter, personal computer, adding machine, fax machine, and photocopier.
South Peninsula Hospital is a 22 bed acute care facility with and attached 28 bed Long Term Care facility. It is located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. The Staff Pharmacists provides professional services to patients and administrative support to the Director of Pharmacy. Physical demands are moderate with extensive standing and walking. Some bending, stooping, reaching, and twisting are required. Limited lifting of up to 40 pounds may be required without assistance. Essentially, all work is performed inside. Working hours may fluctuate, based on patient numbers and other work requirements.
