This Phlebotomist 1 position is located in our Laboratory Department.

Hours:

This is an on-call non-benefited position with variable hours.  

Starting Salary: 

  • $26.69 - $37.79/hr** and up (Rate of pay quoted is for 1-30 years of experience. Pay depends on years of experience.)

**An additional 15% has been added to the base wage, in lieu of benefits.

What you'll do:

  • Perform phlebotomy and clerical duties, with either laboratory or clinical home base.

  • The clerk/phlebotomist will be cross-trained to provide coverage in the laboratory or clinical base as needed. Assignment of the phlebotomist/clerk to a base when staffing is low will be determined by acuity of base needs and per CBA guidelines.

  • The clerk/phlebotomist is involved in pre-analytical, limited analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing in the laboratory or clinical base.
  • Register patients into the Hospital Information System (HIS), performing phlebotomy, performing chain of custody drug screen collections, performing Breath Alcohol testing if appropriate, and other clerical duties as assigned.

What you'll need:

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Certification as a medical assistant or phlebotomist preferred
  • Experience as a phlebotomist, drawing neonates, pediatrics, adults and geriatrics
  • Moderate knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and clerical skills
  • Computer skills in order entry, Excel and Word
