South Peninsula Hospital is currently accepting resumes for a Controller. This person will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and be part of the Management Team. They will provide financial and strategic leadership for the hospital and help establish and implement financial policies, plans, and goals in support of South Peninsula Hospital’s strategic directions. The Controller provides supervision and leadership to the Accounting Department staff. They develop budgets, manage and coordinate the operating and capital plans, the long range strategic financial plan, and evaluate business development opportunities in collaboration with the CFO. They will work seeking input from their staff and other managers to prepare budgets, financial reports, statistical reports, and create a safe and productive work environment, and adhere to all compliance requirements.
Located in Homer, AK, South Peninsula Hospital is a CAH hospital with an attached 28-bed nursing home. It seeks employees with a passion for serving the community through health care, and the desire to live in an active and engaging region full of recreational opportunity and natural splendor. Homer is a fisherman’s dream location, and is part of the Alaskan “banana belt” experiencing a temperate climate throughout the year. Hikers, fishermen, boaters, and cyclists share the region with expansive views of the Kachemak Bay and surrounding mountains as well as magnificent wildlife.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, health or other related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years in accounting or a related field with experience in health care finance including third party reimbursement
- 2 or more years of management experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Aptitude in problem solving and excellent organizational skills
- Great computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Previous Critical Access Hospital and/or experience with Evident /CPSI software preferred
