POSITION DESCRIPTION: This is a Job Share position. The work cycle will be six months out of the year. The specific months will be coorinated with leadership and the other respective Job Share MDS RN Coordinator. During the "On" months, the hours are flexible Monday through Friday.
The LTC MDS RN Coordinator is a Registered Nurse who is responsible for completion, overseeing the transmission of, and follow-up processes of the MDS assessments and Medicaid Authorizations/re-Authorizations for all LTC residents to maintain the facility in compliance with State and Federal regulation. The LTC MDS RN Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all disciplines to effectively and efficiently complete MDS assessments and utilize information gathered for planning resident care to ensure quality care is provided. This person takes as active role in planning, updating and organizing resident care. The LTC MDS RN Coordinator functions as a super user for the electronic health record and RAI (Resident Assessment Instrument) system for the LTC Facility and plays a key role in flow chart development and update. The Coordinator may function in the role of floor nurse through providing direct care by means of administering medication and treatments to the residents, oversight, monitor, and coordination of care performed by assigned staff and/or may function as RN on duty per State/Federal regulations. NATURE AND SCOPE: The LTC MDS RN Coordinator is responsible for working under the State/Federal regulations regarding the MDS and Medicaid authorizations/re-authorizations completions. The Alaska State Board of Nursing, State Statute, and the American Nurses Association have established standards for the RN. The Registered Nurse provides and coordinates resident care as outlined in this position description and in accordance with established practice standards and local, state, and federal regulations. The LTC MDS RN Coordinator performs activities within the RN scope of practice.
