  POSITION PURPOSE: 
Member of the LTC Facility health team functioning as a CNA II to provide direct assistance/personal care, including exercises and meals, to residents under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse.  The CNA II strives to assist residents to maintain and/or regain their optimal state of health and self-care, and to provide dignity and comfort.  The LTC CNA II may be required to provide nursing care in other nursing departments of the facility to meet resident/patient care needs.

 KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE 

  1. Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
  2. Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  3. Must have successfully completed a Certified Nurse Aide class, be certified by the State of Alaska and maintain this certification.
  4. Must keep current with CEU credits as required by the State of Alaska.
  5. Maintains BLS certification.
  6. Speaking, listening and basic writing skills required to effectively communicate with others and to document care provided.  Ability to complete computer documentation is required.
  7. Must complete general and CNA orientation for Long Term Care.
  8. Must be available to work any day of the week, any shift needed, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.  Shifts are scheduled based on hospital and unit need first.


ENVIRONMENT:
South PeninsulaHospital is a combination 22-bed critical assess hospital and 28-bed skilled LTC Facility located on the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula.  The position requires walking and standing for prolonged periods, stooping, sitting, and the ability to lift large loads without injury to self or others.  Persons in this position may be exposed to blood-borne pathogens and infectious diseases, falls, needle stick injuries, and muscle strains.  Mechanical lifts are available for lifting residents as needed.  Generally, physical demands are moderate and most work is performed inside.  Working hours may fluctuate based on the demands of the work and scheduling needs.
