RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, pots, and pans according to hospital safety standards.
  • Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment and ensure proper chemical use.
  • Keep dishwashing and kitchen areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating kitchen supplies as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the dietary team to ensure smooth meal service for patients and residents.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Previous dishwashing or food service experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Good physical and mental health with the ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
  • Must maintain a clean, well-groomed, and professional appearance.
  • Certification: Must obtain a State of Alaska Food Worker’s Card within 30 days of employment.

 

ENVIRONMENT

The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. The Dietary Dishwasher works in a fast-paced kitchen environment, coming into contact with hospitalized patients, healthcare providers, and dietary team members.

Job hazards include exposure to food, grease, steam, water, cleaning chemicals, and bodily fluids, as well as risks of cuts, burns, falls, and back strain from lifting. This role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and early or late hours.
