POSITION PURPOSE:
Functions as a member of the Medical Imaging team to provide clinical radiographs as directed by physicians or radiologists in accordance with established standards and practices. Responsible for the day-to-day regulatory requirements and certification in mammography in conjunction with the Director of Imaging.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
The Mammography Technologist / Radiologic Technologist provides direct patient care and radiology services within the boundaries of local, state and federal regulations, under the direction of the Director of Imaging. Responsibility for training and mentoring radiology technologists cross-training in mammography.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

1.  Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
2. Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
3. Must have successfully completed an AMA approved Radiologic Technologist training course. Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
4. Must maintain registration with the ARRT on an annual basis.
5. Must be certified in the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist specialty of Mammography.
6. Must have at least eight hours of mammography specific training in digital mammography and eight hours of digital breast tomosynthesis specific training with recent experience working in Mammography and general Radiology.
7. Must keep current with CEU credits as required by the ARRT and Mammography specific CEU credits as required by ACR and MQSA. 
8. Demonstrated ability to lift up to 50 pounds or 25% of own body weight, whichever is less, without self injury, as well as ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time, including stooping and sitting.

ENVIRONMENT:
South Peninsula Hospital is a combination 22 bed acute care hospital and 28 bed Long Term Care Facility located on the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula.  The position requires walking and standing for prolonged periods, stooping, sitting, and the ability to lift large loads without injury to self or others.  Persons in this position are exposed to infectious diseases, falls, and muscle strains.  Generally, physical demands are moderate and most work is performed inside.  Working hours may fluctuate based on the demands of the work.
