MEDICAID TRAVEL COORDINATOR PATIENT ACCOUNT REPRESENTATIVE I (PCN TBD)
Work Hours: 8:30-5pm
This position is part of a team-based approach in providing patient-centered care. The Medicaid Travel Coordinator is responsible for preauthorizing and/or arranging Medicaid medical travel for local, intrastate and out of state medical appointments for patients of South Peninsula Hospital clinics and all outpatient departments. Travel can include ground and/or air travel, meals and lodging.
Homer Medical Center/South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22 bed critical access hospital and 28 bed long term care facility, specialty, and family practice clinics located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. The environment is generally pleasant, clean and well maintained. The position requires a moderate amount of mobility. The ability to reason, speak and have basic manual dexterity is essential. Physical demands may include sitting for prolonged periods, walking, stooping and occasional lifting. Psychological demands can be very strenuous. Most work is performed inside and the work is generally of a positive nature.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
The Medicaid Travel Coordinator position requires the minimum of a high school diploma or a GED equivalent. Two to three years experience in computerized patient records is preferred. The ability to maintain productivity through long periods working at a desk. Excellent keyboard skills are required. This position must present a professional appearance, deal courteously and respectfully with patients, staff, and providers. Must be able to perform work with attention to detail, be able to maintain accurate records, be able to maintain strict confidentiality, and be able to contribute to a pleasant, positive working environment.
