POSITION PURPOSE:
The primary purpose of the Medical Supply Technician is to receive, sticker, stock, and distribute medical supplies and equipment to the patient care areas, and to record these transactions on the Materials Management computer system. This position performs such duties as filling supply and equipment orders, processing department charges into an automated system, and receiving and distributing medical supplies and equipment.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Two to three years of experience in a hospital or other healthcare environment, familiarity with medical terminology, supplies and equipment is preferred.
  • Clerical ability is required for timely, accurate processing of documents, distribution forms, patient information records and patient charges.
  • This individual should be able to operate such general office machines as a typewriter, computer keyboard, adding machine and photocopier.

ENVIRONMENT:
South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed critical access and 28-bed skilled long term care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula.  The position requires walking and standing for prolonged periods, stooping, sitting, and the ability to lift large loads without injury to self or others.
