This position is designated for new graduate nurses who will have completed a current nursing program and plans to participate in a hospital precept program.
This would also include any registered nurses with less than one year of nursing experience.
POSITION PURPOSE:
Utilizes the nursing process to plan and provide total, direct patient care to patients on the nursing unit according to established standards and practices.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
- New Registered Nurse Graduate or less than one year of experience in the nursing field.
- Required current or pending registered nurse license in the State of Alaska.
- Must possess and maintain current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS or any certification required for certain specialty areas.
- Speaking, listening, and basic writing skills are required to communicate with others, and to document care given.
- Numerical ability is required to calculate drug dosages.
ENVIRONMENT:
South Peninsula Hospital (SPH) is a combined 22-bed critical access hospital and 28-bed long term care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. The position requires walking, standing for extended periods, stooping and the ability to lift 50 pounds. Persons in this position are exposed to infectious diseases, including blood-borne pathogens, muscle strains, falls, and needle stick injuries. A mechanical lift is available for lifting patients when needed. Generally, physical demands are moderate and most work is performed inside. Working hours may fluctuate based on scheduling needs and patient census.
