POSITION HIGHLIGHTS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for consistently practicing professionalism in overseeing the operational needs of the Plant Operations and Security departments.
  • The major purpose of this position is to support and assist the Facilities Manager with regard to scheduling requirements, projects, operational needs, record-keeping duties, and participate and/or take minutes for various meetings or committees.
  • Will demonstrate adequate communication skills, positively influence and engage staff members regarding operational needs of the facility and the departments. 
  • Must be proficient with necessary business practices, project planning, as well as obtaining and evaluating department needs.
  • Will work closely with Facility Engineers and Security staff with various department needs, scheduling and necessary capital budget purchases.
  • This position will be part of a professional team of employees who are accountable for facility maintenance and security needs.
  • Will collaborate with multiple departments to identify and resolve issues regarding hospital concerns.
  • This position is a non-exempt position under the laws of the FLSA and reports to the Facilities Manager.

EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three years of office/clerical experience in a professional business setting, construction setting or healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Construction knowledge, skills and terminology is a plus.
  • Experience in project management preferred.
  • Must be competent in computer skills, including all Microsoft Office applications and have the ability to learn other department specific systems. 
  • Must have the ability to operate office machines for copying, printing, faxing and calculating.
  • Mathematical/analytical ability required for timekeeping system, meeting budget and capital preparatory approval processes, statistical analyzes and other presentation and operational activities as required.
  • Must have excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • Must have the ability to assist in directing staff resources, facilitate teamwork, prioritize activities, and respond timely to direction given.
  • Must have excellent planning, scheduling and problem-solving skills and basic knowledge of business etiquette.
  • Speaking, active listening and skilled writing skills are required to effectively communicate with personnel and at all levels. 

ENVIRONMENT:

The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22 bed Critical Access Hospital with an attached 28 bed Long Term Care facility and a designated Level IV Trauma Center. The facility also includes several clinics and office buildings located off the main campus. The ability to reason, communicate clearly and effectively, and perform tasks requiring basic manual dexterity is essential. The position requires a high degree of mobility and moderate but occasional physical demands that may include sitting for prolonged periods, standing, walking, climbing, stooping and repetitive lifting of light loads.
