RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with mobility or functional impairments.
  • Deliver physical therapy services across inpatient, outpatient, long term care, and home health settings.
  • Document all assessments, treatment sessions, and progress in accordance with professional standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other therapists to support comprehensive patient care.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapy goals, safety, and continued care practices.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Current Alaska state license to practice Physical Therapy.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • One to two years of clinical experience preferred, especially in diverse care settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate and guide patients through rehabilitation.
  • Familiarity with documentation standards and ability to use EMR systems.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods, assist with patient mobility, and lift heavy objects or patients when needed.
  • Flexibility to work 10-hour shifts and occasional weekends as scheduled.

 

ENVIRONMENT:

The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska. The physical therapy department offers a clean, safe, and barrier-free work environment. While the work is highly rewarding, physical demands are moderate to high, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing. Therapists may encounter occasional workplace hazards while assisting patients, but safety protocols are in place to minimize risk.
