POD CLINICAL ASSISTANT (REQ 3754)

POSITION PURPOSE:

The responsibility for this position is to support HMC Providers, registered nurses, and medical assistants in a team based approach to support patient needs.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

This position processes medical records requests, processes referrals authorized by Providers, arranges travel for MCD patients, processes downloads for medical information, scans documents to be entered into patients charts and assists Providers in retrieving needed labs and patient information. This position reports to the Assistant Clinical Manager.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

• Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or a GED equivalent.
• Two to three years of experience in computerized patient records is preferred. 
• The ability to maintain productivity through long periods working at a desk. 
• Excellent keyboards skills are required. 
• This position must present a professional appearance, deal courteously and respectfully with patients, staff, and providers.
• Must be able to perform work with attention to detail, be able to maintain accurate records, be able to maintain strict confidentiality, and be able to contribute to a pleasant, positive working environment.

ENVIRONMENT:
Homer Medical Center/South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22 bed critical access hospital and 28 bed long term care facility, orthopedic, and family practice clinics located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. The environment is generally pleasant, clean and well maintained. The position requires a moderate amount of mobility. The ability to reason, speak and have basic manual dexterity is essential. Physical demands may include sitting for prolonged periods, walking, stooping and occasional lifting. Psychological demands can be very strenuous.  Most work is performed inside and the work is generally of a positive nature.
