RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate the front desk and multi-line switchboard, directing calls and visitors appropriately.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, employees, vendors, and the public.
  • Perform administrative tasks using office equipment including computers, fax machines, and copiers.
  • Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality in all communications.
  • Support departmental functions and contribute to a respectful, team-oriented environment.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–3 years of experience in computerized hospital patient accounts preferred.
  • Proficiency with general office equipment and multi-line phone systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both in-person and on the phone.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, attention to detail, and customer-focused demeanor.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow procedures and manage records accurately.
  • Committed to maintaining a positive and courteous work atmosphere.
  • Physical Requirement: Moderate mobility required, including sitting, walking, and occasional lifting; basic manual dexterity and ability to work under psychological stressors are essential.

ENVIRONMENT:

South Peninsula Hospital is a 22-bed Critical Access Hospital with an attached 28-bed Long-Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula. The working environment is generally pleasant, clean and well maintained.  The position requires a moderate amount of mobility.  The ability to reason, speak and have basic manual dexterity is essential.  Physical demands are moderate and may include sitting, walking, stooping and occasional lifting.  Psychological demands can be very strenuous.  Most work is performed inside and the work is generally of a positive nature.
