Work Hours: 8:30 - 3:00


The Release of Information (ROI) Specialist is responsible for the verification of authorizations and release of patient information in accordance with SPH policy and state and federal regulations in a timely, accurate, and complete manner.

  1. High school education or GED.
  2. Previous office work required use of daily keyboarding.
  3. Computer applications experience at least one year. i.e., Word, Word Perfect, spreadsheets
  4. High level of organizational skills which can be verified by a previous employer
  5. Works well in team setting, understands team concepts and customer expectation.
  6. Handles pressure of fluctuating work demands and is able to switch gears and remain focused.
  7. Demonstrates accuracy, tact and diplomacy
  8. Communicates well with excellent writing skills.
  9.  Working knowledge of medical terminology
  10.  Previous experience in a HIM setting preferred.
South Peninsula Hospital is a 22 bed acute care facility located at the Southern end of the Kenai Peninsula.  Attached to this facility is a 28 bed intermediate care facility. The HIMS Department is a support service of SPH whose primary purpose is to contribute to the quality of patient care through the development and maintenance of a comprehensive, centralized health information system.  

The health information system as a function of the HIMS Department also provides health care data and services to support and promote related goals and activities of the facility.  Generally physical demands are light, but some stooping, bending, and lifting may be necessary.  Work areas will be monitored for safety and comfort.  Working days and hours may vary.
