RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise the Respiratory Therapy team to ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care.
- Promote and model evidence-based practices and interdisciplinary communication.
- Conduct regular patient care rounding to assess clinical needs and environmental safety.
- Participate in direct patient care when necessary, maintaining clinical competency.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to support quality improvement and infection prevention initiatives.
- The Respiratory Therapy Supervisor serves as the clinical lead for the Respiratory team, supporting the department to administer specified respiratory treatments, medications, life support, and diagnostic examination for diagnoses of cardiovascular ailments.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be graduated from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy, with certification from the National Board of Respiratory Therapy Care.
- Three years of Respiratory Therapy experience required.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Must possess the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulation.
- Must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to effectively present and respond to question from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure and have the ability to calculate figures and amounts, apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
- Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form, and exercise sound technical judgment and appropriate assessment skills.
ENVIRONMENT
South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22 bed critical access hospital and 28 bed long-term care facility. SPH also provides Labor & Delivery, emergency department, and surgical services. The working environment is generally pleasant, clean and well maintained. Most work is performed inside. This position requires walking, standing for extended periods of time, sitting, bending, reaching, stooping, and the ability to lift 50 pounds without injury to self or others. This position has a Category I Risk of exposure to bio-hazardous materials. Persons in this position are exposed to infectious diseases, falls and muscle strains. Working hours and days may fluctuate based on the demands of the department and hospital.
