POSITION PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Scheduler is to coordinate and facilitate the scheduling of both new and returning patients as a member of the Diagnostic Imaging Team. This position is part of a team-based approach in providing patient-centered care by maximizing productivity through obtaining all necessary information to ensure timely patient scheduling and billing.  The Scheduler is often the first person a patient interacts with, therefore, must be able to maintain positive patient relations and represent the practice in a professional, friendly and patient-focused manner.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

The Scheduler provides outbound calls and will receive inbound scheduling calls, coordinate care among multiple imaging modalities, works closely with radiology technologist, radiologist, patient registration and insurance authorization teams, and updates patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR). The Scheduler reports to the Imaging Director.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • The Scheduler position requires the minimum of a high school diploma.
  • Two years experience in healthcare scheduling and/or healthcare experience is preferred.
  • This individual will possess excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks with exceptional organizational skills. 
  • Excellent keyboard skills (accuracy and speed) and knowledge of various computer applications.
  • This position must present a professional appearance, deal courteously and respectfully with clients, be able to learn and follow established policies, be able to perform work with attention to detail, be able to maintain accurate records, be able to maintain strict confidentiality, and be able to contribute to a pleasant, positive working environment.
